Condyloma acuminatum |
Condyloma acuminatum is caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). In the early stages, most people are without symptoms or slightly itchy, with only the presence of a wart. It is transmitted through sexual contact, so the partner may also have symptoms.
Those that appear on the surface skin are small, white or gray, firm, spiny; or small, skin-colored, firm, round warts. The overall texture is firm, with a core, and those on the mucous membranes have a cauliflower-like appearance.
Some have one or two warts, while others have warts which spread all over the genital region and up to the thighs. Condyloma that appear on the vulva, inside the vagina and anus are all treated at our clinic. While other hospitals may require hospitalization, our clinic can perform day surgery. We also offer same-day consultation and surgery depending on the schedule and symptoms.
Condyloma may be accompanied by an intraepithelial tumor or Bowenoid papulosis, which may be hidden. If you have any concerns, please see a doctor as soon as possible. We perform pathology tests. If you are unsure about the diagnosis at other hospitals, please come to our clinic for a second opinion. There are also those who have been repeatedly treated for a benign disease called vestibular papillae of the vulva. Tumoral lesions of the vulva are often difficult to diagnose, so we treat patients with vestibular papillae of the vulva who have itching (with symptoms). Please consult us first.
It is possible for us to treat all areas (vulva, vagina, urethra, and intra-anal) in one day.
In case condylomas occur on a large area, they may not be removed in a single session. All condylomas are removed at a high rate. (However, it is a characteristic of condyloma that it often recurs.) It is essential to consult a doctor early. We have appointment slots for surgery at 9:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m.
In the past, condylomas have been treated by using liquid nitrogen to freeze warts or with an electrosurgical knife. The freezing method tends to be inferior because it cannot treat all the warts at once. An electrosurgical knife often causes intense pain and sometimes even burns the surrounding tissues.
We offer medical laser procedures, which enable same-day laser treatment of the interior of the vagina and anus. The laser can be pinpointed and destroy only the warts. Local anesthesia is also administered, so there is no need to worry about pain.
If you are concerned about the pain of anesthesia, we will ask you about your schedule and your preference for the degree of pain relief (anesthesia), and we will discuss the size and extent of the affected area with you to make adjustments.
All the medical treatment is covered by health insurance. In addition, we will treat with Veselna ointment to prevent recurrence as much as possible. We also use Chinese herbal medicine to prevent recurrence of the disease. Those with a strong immune system may recover quickly, but for most people, it is difficult to recover from the disease just by applying cream or burning a little. We should treat it thoroughly.
Please consult with us if you have had recurrences after treatments at other hospitals.
